It’s the month of love! And what do we love? SEWING! Check out our February issue of LoveSewing magazine for innumerable sewing and style tips, and if you missed the premier issue, see it here. At The Sewing Studio, not only do we have some of our all-time fave classes running this month, we’re gearing up for our super fun March Break camps, which, of course, mean summer’s right around the corner. (Right? RIGHT??!) Don’t forget to join Fashion Force, our online community, to share your love of sewing with others. Upload videos, blog, post pics, and share ideas with other sewing fans.

This month, we put our annual charity mission to Ghana on hold (we’re still collecting T-shirts for next year, so bring yours by!) and have donated the cost of our tickets to the people of Haiti. |

- Different Like Coco
by Elizabeth Matthews: This children’s book tells the triumphant story of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s childhood in an orphanage, her rise to fashion fame in late 19th century Paris, and the importance of embracing the things that set each of us apart.
- Influence
2. Influence by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen: This massive coffee table book is a scrapbook full of interviews with some of today’s hottest names in fashion as well as never-before-seen photos of the twins.
- Dior
by Marie-France Pochna: This 80-page hardcover handbook by the French journalist and fashion historian contains personal quotes, photos from the Dior archive as well as personal details on the legendary couturier, who passed away in 1957.
- Avedon Fashion: 1944-2000: Avedon Fashion
showcases the works of the legendary Richard Avedon from the past seven decades. A long-time contributor to Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue and The New Yorker, the American lens man captured the likes of Veruschka, Kate Moss and Audrey Hepburn on film throughout his illustrious career.
- The Golden Age of Couture: Paris and London 1947-1957
1957 by Claire Wilcox: Wilcox takes the reader through the beginnings of haute couture in London and Paris, starting with Christian Dior’s “New Look” movement in 1947, with in-depth looks at the houses Dior, Hardy Amies, Balmain and Jacques Fath.
- Style A to Zoe: The Art of Fashion, Beauty & Everything Glamour :
Glamour by Rachel Zoe: Celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe packed this how-to with her years of behind-the-scenes Hollywood style knowledge, highlighting tips like “Developing a style for work or play that's unstudied and glamorous” and “Packing and travelling like a jetsetter.”
