Sequins add sparkle to a wear-anywhere wardrobe.
By Afiya Francisco
Sequins were once considered appropriate only after the sun went down, but recently the use of sequins in heavy-hitter designer collections such as Stella McCartney, Karl Lagerfeld, Lanvin, and Valentino see sparkle as the perfect embellishment no matter what the hour.
A little goes a long way.
- Stick to one sequined piece per outfit to avoid looking like a walking disco ball.
- Keep it subtle for the office and bring in sparkle through details such as sequined trim or shoes.
- Save coloured sequins for evening attire.
Sewing tip
Sew a sequins trim onto any fabric using a standard stitch and a regular sewing machine needle.
