About Us
LoveSewing began in 2004 when a small group of friends learned to sew in magazine editor Denise Wild’s Toronto apartment. Her chic sewing classes quickly gained momentum, garnered media attention nation-wide, and Denise soon opened studio locations in Toronto’s posh Rosedale neighborhood as well as New York City’s famed Garment District. LoveSewing is now North America’s leader for sewing classes, and has expanded online with free sewing video tutorials as well as LoveSewing magazine, the only sewing magazine that focuses on fashion and style.
“Sewing is something I’ve done and loved my entire life,” says Founder Denise Wild, “and I love seeing that the interest in sewing is growing. More people are getting into designing and sewing (and fixing!) their own clothes, while others are learning to sew as a creative, relaxing departure from their busy lives.” Denise expresses her love of fabric as well as design, but is especially passionate about the technical side of sewing. “Being super finicky with details brings me so much joy!” Her passion for sewing carries over to a passion for sharing knowledge with others? Denise says in her dream world, she’d spend every minute of her day teaching others how to sew while making clothes for herself. Until then, she assures her focus will remain constant: “I want to change the way people look at sewing by bringing fashion into the forefront.”
