Ever step on a pin that missed your post-sewing clean up? Ouch, not fun! To avoid this from ever happening again, keep these three magnetic household tools in your sewing area:

1) Magnetic pin collectors: This is a popular and effective way to avoid pin spills. The pins are easily pulled off as needed and are gently pulled back and held in place when not.

2) Magnetic knife rack: This can be mounted on the wall in your sewing area and used to hold scissors, seam rippers, and metal rulers. This one from Ikea is inexpensive and simple in design.

3) Magnetic broom: The Sweep Magnet is a multi-purpose broom with a flat 8-inch magnetic head that lets the user sweep all floor types while standing. The tip of the broom handle is also magnetized helping you get into tight spaces.

Together these tools should help you keep everything in its place and keep your toes safe! If you have a digital sewing machine, though, use these magnetized tools sparingly. Why? When you leave your pins and scissors on a magnetized surface for long periods of time, it could cause them to become magnetized. And magnetized products around sewing machines, particularly digital ones, could cause some damage to your machine.
