Renegade Craft Fair

As the holiday season approaches, we start to think of presents we can give to friends and loved ones that let them know that they are loved. It should be something unique and/or clever that brings a smile to the face; something that they don’t have, and certainly something you’ve never given them before. The Renegade Craft Fair Holiday Events provides the perfect opportunity to find gifts that match that description, and also to support independent artists.
The Renegade Craft Fairs, which, until now, have been summertime, free-to-attend juried craft fairs held in major cities across the US (and now in London, too) but they’re so popular that four of the cities have also created holiday craft fairs at the end of the year—Chicago, Austin, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The fairs feature independent artisans and crafters with original work.
So what kind of things can you find at the fair? Well, in terms of home décor goods: mugs and ceramics, artwork, paper goods, games, woodcarvings, pillows and linens, candle holders, lamps, birdhouses, garden goods, plush objects, bath products, curios and collectibles.
In addition to the presents for sale, the Fairs also have food and drinks as well as free workshops. For instance, at the San Francisco fair there will be a make-and-take accordion album workshop; ornament making in Austin; DIY gift wrap workshop in Chicago; and Los Angeles will have a Danish woven hearts workshop.
For those that can’t attend, don’t worry! The holiday fair websites list every artist attending each city’s fair, with links to their webpages. In addition, there is also the permanent web store of Renegade Handmade, where Renegade crafters can sell their goods year round. For more information, dates of the fairs and lists of artists, go to www.renegadecraft.com.
