Happy holidays, our lovely sewing stars!

Check out pics of your favourite TSS instructors at our holiday party last month.

It’s that time of year to take a break from the rush, enjoy everything that’s around you, and gear up for a fresh start come January. For us, we’re closing the Toronto studios (from Dec 21 to Jan 3) and we’re working non-stop to bring you something amazing: a website relaunch! You’ve heard us chatting about it for a while. And it’s about to go live! Jan 1st we’re introducing sewing classes online, a website overhaul, and…LoveSewing magazine, the first sewing mag that focuses on fashion and style! And it’s all as a thanks to you, our favourite sewing fans. You’ve showed us so much support over the years and we want to give you a place to come (no matter where you live) where you can get up close and personal with fashion and share and get sewing tips and tricks.

2010 is going to be a huge year for us, and we’re excited to have you with us as we grow!

Hot-lookin’ hats
  1. Cloche:
Made popular in 1920, this is a bell shaped hat usually made of felt. It was designed to be worn low on the forehead.
  2. Fedora:
A popular style for men in the 1920s, fedoras are creased lengthwise down the middle and the front is pinched on both sides. They’re made of felt with a ribbon above the brim.
  3. Beret:
Made out of wool felt, berets are worn tight around the head with the crown pushed to one side.
  4. Bowler:
A hard, felt hat that fits snugly around the head and is very rounded at the crown, bowlers were designed in 1849 to protect gamekeepers’ heads from hitting tree branches while on horseback.
  5. Sun hat:
Sun hats are fitted around the head but have a huge brim. These hats are made to keep the sun out of your eyes and off the neck and shoulders.
  6. Newsboy cap:
This cap is tight around the head but has a roomy top. More structured than the beret, it has a short bill in the front. (aka a Baker Boy or a Jay Gatsby)
