Customizing Your Sewing Patterns with Gretchen Hirsch
Have you ever wanted to change a neckline on a dress pattern? Turn a straight skirt into an a-line? Change a dart to a pleat? This workshop will be a beginner’s first step into the wild and wonderful world of patternmaking. Using miniature paper patterns, we’ll do exercises into basic principles like changing necklines, dart manipulation, slashing and spreading for fullness, and much more. Students will walk away with a collection of mini patterns for reference, newfound confidence, and a ton of inspiration!

The Perfect Fit Pencil Skirt with Gretchen Hirsch
A pencil skirt is a wardrobe basic, and it spans all personal styles! We’ll focus on getting the perfect fit in this class. Students will come with a muslin test skirt assembled, and each will get a personal fitting to work out the kinks in the pattern. Next, Gretchen will demo her favorite techniques for a quality skirt, including choosing the right fabric, lapped zippers, inserting a lining, and more!
