INTERNSHIP
The Sewing Studio, your haute spot for learning to sew, offers three types of unpaid internships (each lasting four months) for sewing enthusiasts and post-secondary students.
• FASHION MOGULS: Wondering what it takes to build a fashion-based business? Our Fashion Admin Internship will take you through the ins and out of building, developing and growing a business from the ground up. This internship requires eight hours of work per week. Interns must have daily access to email and a computer. Projects include everything from database development to research to event planning. You must have a keen eye for detail, strong computer and administrative skills, an outgoing personality, and the ability to think outside the box!
Perfect for: The business-minded fashionista; a go-getter and a self-starter!
Highlight: A behind the scenes look at running a business, client service, and administrative experience.
• FASHION COMMUNICATIONS: Be a part of our global online project, The Sewing Studio Online. We're launching a website extension that features sewing classes online, as well as the only fashion-focused sewing magazine, LoveSewing. The Fashion Communications Internship requires eight hours of work each week. Interns must have daily access to email and the Internet. You must be a stickler for detail and be interested in taking on a variety of projects that include researching, blogging, and writing video scripts.
Perfect for: The fashion-savvy sewer, looking for a career in fashion writing, marketing, or communications.
Highlight: You'll create great content, get yourself some publication credits, and learn the ins-and-outs of online marketing.
• STUDIO INTERNS: Does creativity run through your veins? Does organization make you giddy? Do you wake up at night dreaming about ribbon and lace? If your answer is yes, then the Studio Internship is the internship for you. Come be a part of The Sewing Studio for a wonderful opportunity to explore your fashion and sewing skills. The internship requires eight hours of work a week. Four hours must be completed in-studio and the other four may be completed from home. Help guide students who come in for Free Studio Time and help prep the studio for classes, handle registrations, and keep in touch with past and present students.
Perfect for: Sewing addicts and fashionistas looking to teach sewing or work in the fashion industry and better their sewing skills. Get a better understanding on how a small business is run while sharpening your creative and sewing skills.
Highlight: Work with directly with our great students, and learn a few things while you're at it!

Internship requirements
- You must have a passion for learning. (Studio Interns must have a strong technical background in sewing.)
- Candidates must be reliable, hard working, organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and confident.
- You need daily access to a computer and email. (Fashion Admin Interns must have a laptop with wireless access.)
- Interns are required to take at least one program (at no charge) during their internship.
